Have a question about water photography, my equipment, or what it’s like to grow up on the North Shore? Maybe what my favorite place I’ve traveled to or what i eat for breakfast? Ask me below! I’ll be reviewing, answering, and posting your questions on this page below. x

Q. What is the best camera/housing to take underwater shots? I’ve been using a GoPro 4, and it’s just not getting the job done!

A. It think it depends on what type of images you’re hoping to get. If you’re looking to capture a bunch of frames per second, you might look into a camera like a Canon 5D or similar. All of my water housings have been custom built on the North Shore by Water Housings Hawaii to have all of the manual adjustments available to me when i’m in the ocean. As for lenses, I personally don’t love the way ‘fisheye’ type lenses look for water images, so instead I stick with primes like a 35mm or 50mm.

Q. I know you’ve traveled a lot around the world so I was wondering what your top three favorite places are to go?

A. That’s a tough one! I feel incredibly fortunate to travel and to as many places as I have so far. Internationally my favorite places to travel to are, Tahiti, France, and Portugal. Tahiti because the tropics will always have my heart. Warm water and islander lifestyle with a French influence, literally my heaven. France, because bread. And Paris. Portugal for the people and incredible coastlines. Croatia was also incredible, no other place I’ve been looks like how the water and coastal landscape looks there. Sage Erickson and I only spent 2 days there but I’ve been wanting to go back ever since.
